Talisker's Arctic Symphony: Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old Single Malt Adventur

Talisker, the iconic single malt Scotch whisky distillery nestled in the rugged Isle of Skye, has unleashed a spirit that has truly weathered the extremes. The Talisker Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old is not just another whisky; it's a frozen odyssey, a daring finale to a series of wild whisky-making experiments.

Chilled to Thrill: The Freezing Finale

Imagine this: twelve heavily charred American Oak casks from Talisker, shipped off to the ice fields of Canada. A whisky specialist daringly exposes the cask ends to sub-zero temperatures and Arctic winds for a chilling 96 hours. Why? To let the frigid embrace of the Canadian cold shatter the oak, paving the way for a deeper interaction with the whisky during its finishing period back in Scotland. The result? A whisky that dives into the cask's soul, extracting spicier and sweeter notes from the American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels. It's an audacious experiment that pushes the boundaries of whisky craftsmanship.

Ocean Advocacy Meets Whisky Excellence

This frozen expedition wasn't a solo venture. Talisker partnered with Parley For the Oceans, a global environmental organization. Dr. Alison Criscitiello, a glacier scientist, and ambassadors Greg Long and Taylor Godber joined the Talisker team in a journey from the frozen Canadian landscapes to the seas around the Isle of Skye.

The mission? Uncover the interconnectedness of Earth's diverse ecosystems. A portion of the Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old's proceeds supports Parley's mission to preserve marine ecosystems globally, marking the third year of Talisker's commitment to this cause.

Tasting Notes from the Frozen North

Renowned whisky expert Charles Maclean lauds the Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old as "an excellent Talisker, full, round, and complex." The distillery's character, shaped by age yet vibrantly present, is a testament to the whisky's exceptional journey.

The Changing World in a Bottle

Cyrill Gutsch, founder and CEO of Parley for the Oceans, reflects on the whisky's deeper meaning: "From glacier ice to kelp forests, everything is connected, and our world is changing faster than we realize." This limited edition whisky serves as a unique product shaped by time and the elements, telling the story of our evolving environment. It's not just a drink; it's a chance to support climate research, activism, and human connection.
