My first Glengoyne 10 years old

Bought last year during a special visit to the Glengoyne Distillery in the Scottish Highlands.

When I go on a holiday I always make sure there is something in that suitcase of mine that I know I will enjoy. Which is how, after a tour of this Scottish distillery, I ended up taking this special 10 years old Scotch with me on a holiday to Bali! Talk about dedication!

Let's sniff it! ⁣

To start off this is a single malt and it's the youngest in the Glengoyne family. From the first sniff you know this is a special whisky, green apples and toffee all the way. There is a hint of nuts in there but all in all that warm sweetness of the toffee fills my nose. ⁣

What's the flavor?

I love me a fine Scot... Scotch I mean. Smooth and warm. Filled with aromatic flavours like nuts and I can see myself running through the highlands, a Scot in kilt beside me... But I digress... moving on!

And finally?

I like this 10 years old whisky. It's freshness leaves a nice taste that lasts for a while. I normally don't add water but add a few drops and you discover sweet green apples and a soft nutty oak finish that really gives this whisky a kick.

I can see myself running through the highlands, a strong, bearded Scot in kilt beside me...but I digress.

When to drink it?

Now when you're ready to try out this whisky... take your time and enjoy this whisky after dinner either near a warm hearth or (like me) at the poolside in the sun. But, as Glengoyne advises themselves, be sure to drink this whisky with friends.

Vorig jaar gekocht vorig jaar tijdens een speciaal bezoek aan de Glengoyne-distilleerderij in de Schotse Hooglanden.

Als ik op vakantie ga, zorg ik altijd dat er iets in die koffer van mij is waarvan ik weet dat ik er plezier aan zal beleven. Dat is hoe ik, na een rondleiding door deze Schotse distilleerderij, deze speciale 10 jaar oude Scotch met mij meenam tijdens een vakantie naar Bali! Dat is niet gek ... dat is liefde!

Hoe ruikt ie? ⁣

Om te beginnen is dit een single malt en het is de jongste in de familie Glengoyne. Vanaf de eerste snuf weet je dat dit een speciale whisky is, groene appels en toffee all-the-way. Er zit een hint van noten in, maar al met al vult die warme zoetheid van de toffee mijn neus. ⁣

Hoe smaakt ie?

Ik hou wel van een lekkere Schot... Scotch, bedoel ik. Soepel en warm. Mijn mond wordt gevuld met aromatische nootachtige smaken en ik zie mezelf door de hooglanden rennen, een Schot in kilt naast me ... Maar ik dwaal af ... we gaan verder!

En tenslotte?

Ik hou van deze 10 jaar oude whisky. De versheid laat een lekkere smaak achter die een tijdje aanhoudt. Ik voeg normaal geen water toe maar een paar druppels geven de groene appels en een zachte nootachtige eikenfinish vrij spel en maken dat deze whisky echt een kick geeft.

Ik zie mezelf door de hooglanden rennen, een Schot in kilt naast me ... Maar ik dwaal af...

Wanneer moet je het drinken?

Als je er klaar voor bent om deze whisky uit te proberen ... neem je tijd en geniet van deze whisky na het eten, in de buurt van een warme haard of (zoals ik) bij het zwembad in de zon. Maar, zoals Glengoyne zichzelf adviseert, drink deze whisky met vrienden.
