A chance meeting at the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam turned into a small whiskey tasting!

Remote working and networking has its perks and while waiting for a late meeting to start at the Hyatt Regency in Amsterdam a few weeks ago, I was glad to find the bartenders of the Mama Makan Bar and Restaurant more than happy to oblige me with a little tasting of their precious whiskies.

This 10 years old Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon is one of America's finest bourbon whiskeys out there and brought onto the market in limited quantities.

Bottled at the famous Buffalo Terrace distillery, this single barrel bourbon is a premium brand that really is worth a try.

Let's sniff it! ⁣

Spices, herbs, oak and honey - like a forest in a bottle... need I say more? And that little hints of citrus on the nose makes it nice and complex.. fortune favours the bold as they say - Go forth and prosper! ⁣

What's the flavor?

As could be expected from this whiskey, you've got a lot of personality, like a New York real estate broker, about to make a sale. Lot's of oaky and warm flavours with a delicate nuttiness in there.

And finally?

It doesn't take a large gulp of this whiskey to leave an impression. It's the gift that keeps on giving long after it's gone. The oak and spices blend perfectly together and keeps you wanting more.

As could be expected from this whiskey, you've got a lot of personality.

When to drink it?

Honestly, I would keep this whiskey for special occassions. Don't you dare go mixing this in your coffee or coke (I will hunt you down).
