I was already a sucker for a good whisky sour but this sexy twist on a classic makes me very very happy indeed. This Cherry Sour will sneak into your heart and I promise, it will never leave again.
The tartness of a whisky sour goes extremely well with the hint of sweetness from fresh cherries and the colour just makes your heart stop. So grab yourself your favorite Bourbon and let's get crackin'.
4-5 cherries - stem and stone removed
2 ounces Bulleit Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
¾ ounces lemon juice
½ ounce simple syrup
½ ounce fresh egg whites
Muddle your cherries in a shaker and add all the ingredients. Shake without ice first. Add ice cubes and shake again. You'll see a beautiful pink foam on top of the liquid.
Serve in a tumbler over two ice cubes and garnish with a cherry of course.
If you're nervous about the egg whites, it doesn't have any flavour and truly enhances the presentation of your cocktail. It makes it all a little creamier and it's why you have that beautiful foam on top. Just make sure the eggs are fresh.
